On Saturday we hosted a friendly against Coldean.

In a very closely fought encounter the U12s struggled for a bit of rhythm trying to incorporate a few tactical tweaks that had been implemented for the new season.

The U12s somewhat gave a 2 goal lead to Coldean with an own goal and a defensive mix up. Despite this they kept creating chances with Lewis in particular causing a lot of problems with his pace and direct running.

In the second half, Coldean scored a brilliant goal from 30 yards which extended their lead but Telscombe still kept pressing but was just missing a final ball or a piece of luck to get back in to the game.

Finally we made our pressure count with Declan running behind the defence and scoring with a very tidy finish.

So a narrow loss but a lot of positives. Harvey was given man of the match for some very good defensive work
Sunday saw us host a league match against Diversity and Skill.

The U12s made a really quick start playing some lovely football using both flanks to good effect and with a midfield 3 of Oscar, Vinny and Jenson dominating.

Like Saturday it looked like it might be a frustrating afternoon with a number of chances squandered from great positions.

However Telscombe finally got what they deserved with good work on the left hand side that saw Olly slot home. Telscombe then scored again shortly after with a bullet header from Vinny which saw us very much on top.

After a drinks break Diversity came back in to the match and in a repeat of Saturday Telscombe again gifted 2 goals to the opposition which saw us go in level at half time.

The second half was an open affair and end to end. Telscombe squandered some wonderful chances and were made to pay for their profligacy when Diversity scored two second half goals.

Telscombe continued to push and came so close to getting back in the game on a number of occasions but were thwarted by a combination of good goalkeeping, the woodwork and a slight lack of composure.

Riley was man of the match for a comnanding performance at the back.

Overall a very positive weekend for the U12s with plenty of chances created and some promising signs for the future as they continue their progression
