Today saw Raiders U14’s host against Cuckfield Cosmos. This was a highly anticipated meet as the last face off was called early due to awful weather conditions. Both teams seemed in good spirits and well prepared for the game ahead. Cuckfield took the first kick of the game with Raiders quick to react and turn over play, mounting with a good attack which was scuppered by Cuckfield and taken by their keeper. Cuckfield countered quickly but it was dealt with by Raiders defence who recycled the ball eventually finding Martim who had a second chance with exactly the same circumstances as his first attempt on goal, this time tucking the ball away in the goal to see Raiders go 1-0 up. Raiders continued to make ground within the game not without a few close spells from Cuckfield and half time came with the score sitting at 3-1 to the Raiders.

The second half was well underway with a close goal only minutes in but Cuckfield had tightened their defence and were making Raiders work harder for their rewards. Raiders showed good communication and tirelessly reworked the play until they found a fourth and fifth goal, one being a controlled and precise ball in from a free kick by Ellis and the other being well earned from Raiders winger Kier who had created multiple runs and selfless crosses throughout the game, confidently striking a shot for himself. A great performance from all of the team today with everyone giving 100% effort, the game finishing 5-1 to Raiders. Well done boys!
